48 people were poisoned by food poisoning



KUALA TERENGGANU - A total of 48 patients were diagnosed with food poisoning after eating foam pudding.

Terengganu State Health Director Dr Nor Azimi Yunus said 20 out of the total were admitted to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) with one being placed in the intensive care unit (ICU).

"The patient is in stable condition, four more are admitted to private hospitals while the rest are treated as outpatients. The majority of patients suffer from stomach aches and diarrhea, ”he said in a statement today.

According to Dr Nor Azimi, he received a notification of episodes of food poisoning on May 24 involving the history of eating foam pudding purchased online on May 22.

In this regard, he said the Terengganu State Health Department (JKNT) is still investigating to identify the true cause of the food poisoning outbreak and other possible patients.

“Food safety regulations especially high levels of hygiene should be taken into consideration by all food operators and the general public.

“The food must be eaten no more than four hours after its preparation and if it is to be stored, it should be kept at a suitable temperature and heated to a sufficient temperature to prevent food poisoning.

"People should also be aware of food safety by adopting the concept of 'look, smell and taste' before eating to avoid eating stale foods," he said.
