'Bad news if the President's Cup is canceled'



KUALA TERENGGANU: "If it's true that the President's Cup competition has been canceled this season, it's bad news for the players,"

Terengganu squad head coach Badrul Afzan Razali was commenting on rumors of a possible Presidential and Youth Cup competition this season being canceled following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

To date, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has not yet officially announced the status of the tournament and it is expected that the national football body will make a decision in the near future.

Badrul said not only was the player disappointed when the 21-year-old was eliminated, but the coach's line was also felt after the team lost in the semi-finals to Perak last season.

"It is disappointing. The team's momentum is still at its peak this season after recording three wins and one draw from four league games. Of course this situation is sad for fans and sports fans in Terengganu," he said here today.

Terengganu is the current 2018 edition champion of Group A North Zone after defeating the Mokhtar Dahari Football Academy (AMD), 5-0 over Pahang (3-0), Kelantan (6-1) and 0-0 with Perak.

Commenting further, Badrul Afzan also assured that he would be ready to play in a closed stadium without a spectator if the Presidential Cup rivalry continues.
