Kuala Terengganu: To ensure that the pipe leakage problem that caused the water crisis in Kuala Nerus and Kuala Terengganu does not recur, the state government has streamlined follow -up measures and improved several aspects of the maintenance of Syarikat Air Terengganu (SATU).
Terengganu Menteri Besar, Dato 'Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said, the main focus of the state government is to ensure that the construction of the Bukit Berapit Plant is completed earlier or on time.
"ONE party will also work with the authorities to mark the line of pipes that exist throughout the riverbed and sea of Terengganu.
“In addition, ONE will streamline periodic inspections of all pipes especially those located in the river and sea floor alignment.
“Overhaul maintenance will be expedited, preventive maintenance will be improved and restructured,” he said.
He said this in a SATU press conference at the Bukit Berangan Water Plant, here today.
Also present were Terengganu Inc Chief Executive Officer, Burhanuddin Hilmi Mohamed@Harun, Members of the State Executive Council (MMKN) and senior government officials.
Apart from that, according to him, the state government has also formed an investigation committee to investigate the issue of water pipe leaks at the bottom of the Terengganu river in more detail.
"This committee is led by the Director of the Terengganu State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) and is comprised of various related agencies including the Department of Environment.
“They were given a period of 30 days to release the results of the investigation and proposed action to the state government, which started three days ago.
"Currently, related activities in the area have also been stopped until re -evaluated by the investigation committee," he said.
